Psychology is the well-established and highly respected study of the human mind, and how it
responds to internal and external cues and stimulus. In everyday life, with ourselves or
interacting with others, an expert psychologist can help you to understand why we respond
the way we do, where this behaviour came from, and how to then move beyond any limiting or
unhelpful reactions or conditioning.

Finding a skilled and experienced Psychologist who is in private practice, and open to helping you in the ways you need and want is the
first step. Next you will meet and discuss just how to proceed safely, affordably and professionally. Carole is well-placed to assist you on
many levels, and holds excellent credentials and practice history.

Approach
I am an integrative practitioner, which means I am trained in a number of different therapeutic approaches. I work predominantly using CBT within a framework of humanistic principles (which values respect for the client's worldview and an importance on the therapeutic relationship), however I am very much guided by the individual client's needs and preferences and the problems they bring. I am also interested in incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness in my work, where appropriate.

What to expect
Each session is 50 minutes. I offer an initial assessment session, which offers a chance for us to meet and find out more about each other, including what has brought you to therapy. I will ask a number of questions to understand more about you, your life and any difficulties you may be struggling with. Anything you tell me is confidential (within certain boundaries, which I shall explain at this first meeting). This session is also an opportunity for you to find out more about me and to ask any questions about how I work and what to expect from therapy. There are no obligations to meet again, unless you feel it would be helpful.

Once agreed, I normally then see people on a regular basis, usually once a week, for a number of sessions (anything from 6-12+ sessions). This can be reviewed regularly, and shortened or extended as needed. I can see people for less time than this or for longer term work. I am very flexible based on people's preferences and the nature of the problem(s) they are bringing.
I can offer appointments at Southgate Chambers in Winchester on Saturdays. I see individuals aged 17 and above, and I also work with couples.

Fees: All sessions are 50 minutes and are charged at £100.

I also have consulting rooms in Southampton, Alton (Hampshire) and London.
